October 17, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

16TH ANNUAL OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP
HELD AT THE RESCUE MISSION OF TRENTON

October 17, 2009.  The New Jersey Sanitary Supply Association’s Social Outreach Committee held the 16th Annual Operation Clean Sweep on October 17, 2009 and cleaned The Rescue Mission of Trenton, (insert address).  13 member company volunteers assisted in the cleaning effort with 24 member companies and individuals donating cleaning and janitorial supplies to aid the Mission’s community-based facility.

“We are very thankful and proud that so many NJSSA member companies and volunteers stepped forward in this challenging economic year to donate products and their time to help The Rescue Mission of Trenton,” said Dan Rubinstein (Osprey Sales), NJSSA Trustee and Chair of the Social Outreach Committee.  “It was also very gratifying to hear some of the Mission’s residents speak to us about their experiences and how important the Rescue Mission is helping them get back on their feet,” added Rubinstein.

The Rescue Mission of Trenton is the agency in the City of Trenton that serves the truly needy men and women who have no place to turn for shelter, food, and clothing. The Mission provides a safe, clean, warm refuge for the homeless, the hungry, the transient, and the addicted. The Mission also provides services and counseling to encourage individuals to reach their greatest potential in an environment where one can live with dignity, build self-esteem, experience love, responsibility, and hope.

On October 17, volunteers from within the cleaning and maintenance products industry in New Jersey provided labor, materials, and services to clean and brighten the Rescue Mission.  Students from St. Michael’s Parochial School in Bordentown also participated in the cleaning effort and helped some of the Mission’s residents to learn how to clean their facility as well.

Developed in 1993 by NJSSA, “Operation Clean Sweep” expanded to other regional and state associations, and in 1995 became a national community-based program of the International Sanitary Supply Association.  In 1996, “Operation Clean Sweep” received an award of excellence from the American Society of Association Executives “Advance America” campaign.  Nationally, over 1,000 member companies have participated in “Operation Clean Sweep” over the years.

“Operation Clean Sweep” was established to enhance the quality of life within New Jersey communities,” stated Peter Davidson (Leading Edge Associates, NJSSA President.  “By offering our professional expertise, we hope to provide a cleaner, healthier environment for the people of The Rescue Mission of Trenton.”
