NJSSA Monthly Membership Memo December 2009

NJSSA Board of Trustees Elected for 2010
 
Howard Durann, Norshel Industries, Darren Slosberg, Legacy Converting, and Dan Rubinstein Osprey Sales, were reelected to another three year term on the NJSSA Board of Trustees.  Durann and Sloberg fill the two open manufacturer positions and Rubinstein fills one of the two open manufacturer representative positions.  Also elected to his first three year term in John Castaldo of Samco Sales & Marketing who will also fill an open manufacturer representative position.  Leaving the NJSSA Board at the end of this year is Patrick Amato of Premier Sales & Marketing, current board Treasurer who has served 8 years on the Board of Trustees.  
 
Howard Durann, Norshel Industries (Croydon, PA), has been in the jan-san industry for over 20 years.  He attended Kean University and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science.  While in school, Howard owned and operated Greater Jersey Window Cleaning Company.  He joined Norshel Industries (Croydon, PA) in 1992 and serves as senior sales advisor for the New Jersey region.  He also oversees training of customer service personnel.  Howard currently serves as chair of the NJSSA Show Committee and has been active in Operation Clean Sweep. 
 
Darren Slosberg of Legacy Converting (Paterson, NJ) served as Secretary of the Board in his first term as a NJSSA Trustee.  He is the co-owner and founder of NDI and its subsidiary company Legacy Converting, Inc.  He received his B.A. from Brandeis University and began in sales, working for Wyeth-Ayerst in the pharmaceutical industry. Legacy Converting has been transformed from a mainly automotive wiping cloth supplier to a competitive leader in the paper converting business and Jan/San supply arena.

                             
Dan Rubinstein is a manufacturer representative for Osprey Sales (Millersville, MD) covering the Northeast Region.  Prior to joining Osprey, he was employed with Norshel Industries as a sales representative focusing on sanitary supply firms in southern New Jersey and the Philadelphia area.  He and his family reside in Yardley, PA.  Dan currently serves as chair of the Social Outreach Committee which oversees Operation Clean Sweep.
 
  
John Castaldo is a 25 year veteran in the jan-san industry and recently opened his own Manufacturer Representative firm in New Providence, NJ.  He was a past member of the NJSSA board of trustees and has worked closely with many of the region's distributors over his career.
Supply Line 2010

State Contract Issues
 
The NJSSA Legislative Outreach Committee will be contacting new state officials in the Christie Administration to discuss some inequities and inefficiencies in state contract bid awards. We would like to include specific cases of problems our industry has had in working with the bid process.
